Gemini's new small business tools: a business hub, on-brand visuals and connected apps

Google is giving small business owners their own corner of the Gemini app: a business hub, a way to teach Gemini your brand so it can make matching visuals, finance help for messy spreadsheets, and connections to tools like Google Business Profile, Shopify and Xero. Here is what each piece does, what it costs and how to set it up in an afternoon.

Picture a one-person ceramics studio. The owner is good at throwing pots. She is less excited about writing product descriptions, keeping the shop's look consistent across Instagram and the website, and working out from a pile of receipts whether the holiday market actually made money. That is the gap Google is aiming at with its latest Gemini update.

On October 20, 2026, Google announced new Gemini tools for small business owners. Google says tens of millions of them already use Gemini to brainstorm products, manage customer feedback and analyze performance. The update adds a business landing page that works as a central hub, a way to set your brand style once, finance help that turns spreadsheets and receipts into charts, and new connections to Google's business tools and outside apps. Google says the features begin rolling out globally in the coming days for all Gemini app users. 1

What is new, piece by piece

The update has four parts. None of them is a new model on its own; together they make Gemini behave more like a business assistant that already knows your brand, your numbers and your tools, instead of a blank chat box you have to brief every time. 1

Teach Gemini your brand once

The most useful change for small brands is the brand style feature. You upload your website, brand kit, fonts or color palette, and Gemini uses Nano Banana 2.1, Google's latest image model, to produce visuals that match. Google says Gemini retains that style, so you do not have to upload your guidelines again every time you need a new graphic. 1

For the ceramics studio, that means asking for a holiday-sale banner, an Instagram post and an email header and getting three pieces that look like they came from the same shop. Check the output the way a customer would: are the colors right, is the logo untouched, and is any text in the image spelled correctly? AI image models are much better at text than they were, but a typo in a price is still your problem.

Numbers you can read

Google says Gemini can turn messy spreadsheets, receipts and purchase records into clear financial graphics and interactive models in seconds. For an owner who keeps the books in a shared spreadsheet and a shoebox, that is a quick way to see which products sell, which months are slow and where costs crept up. 1

Treat it as analysis, not accounting. Ask Gemini to show which rows each figure came from, compare a total or two against your bank statement, and keep your bookkeeper or accountant for anything that goes to the tax office. The value is in spotting patterns faster, not in replacing the books.

The apps it can connect to

Connections are where the hub earns its place. Gemini can now link to Google Business Profile, Google Ads and Google Workspace, and to outside apps including Adobe, Canva, Dropbox, Shopify, Wix, Zoho and Xero. That builds on a September wave of connected apps that added tools such as Airtable, monday.com, PandaDoc, Squarespace and Webflow. You connect apps in Gemini's settings, or bring one into a chat by typing @ and its name. 12

Google's own example shows the Business Profile connection in use. A New Jersey restaurant owner with no marketing team uses Gemini and his connected Business Profile between shifts to track how his restaurant shows up in local search and Maps, write weekend updates tied to neighborhood events, and study regional flavor trends for a new breakfast menu. 1

What it costs

Google says the business hub, the marketing and finance skills and the new connected apps are rolling out to all Gemini app users, which includes the free version. Google sells three paid Google AI plans on top of that, which add cloud storage and higher access to its most capable features. The announcement does not say whether any of the new business tools have tighter limits on the free tier, so expect to find out in use. 13

Larger businesses that need central admin controls and data governance are pointed to Gemini Enterprise instead of the consumer app. For a team of more than a handful of people sharing customer data, that difference matters more than the monthly price. 1

Set it up in an afternoon

The tools are only as good as what you connect and how clearly you describe your brand. This order gets useful results fastest, with a check at each step.

Who should use it, and the cautions

Gemini's business tools make the most sense if your business already runs on Google: a Business Profile you care about, Google Ads spend and a Workspace inbox. If you live in Shopify and Canva, the connections still help, but compare it with the assistant your team already uses before switching. The best tool is the one your team will actually open on a Monday.

  • Connect only the apps you need, and review what each connection can see.
  • Keep customer personal data out of prompts unless your plan and settings allow it.
  • Check every generated image for wrong text, altered logos and claims you cannot back up.
  • Verify financial charts against your records before you act on them.
  • Keep a person approving anything that gets published, paid or sent to a customer.

The short version

Monolith's take: Gemini's business hub is the most practical small-business update Google has made to Gemini so far, because it connects the tools owners already use and remembers the brand. It costs nothing to try. Start with Business Profile, your brand kit and one money question, and judge it on whether your Monday check-in gets shorter.
